Mission Statement

The mission of the Kaukauna Catholic School System Athletic Association (KCSSAA) is to promote physical fitness by recognizing its importance in the complete physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of each student athlete. Our goal is to provide physical education and supervised competition which encourages maximum participation while promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, dignity and accomplishment.

What does the Athletic Association do?

The Kaukauna Catholic School Athletic Association (KCSSAA) is a volunteer group which exists as a part of the Kaukauna Catholic School System and is open to members from all parishes in the System.  The mission of the Athletic Association is to promote physical fitness by recognizing its importance in the complete physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development of each student athlete. The goal of the Association is to provide physical education and supervised competition which encourages maximum participation while promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, dignity, and accomplishment.

Interscholastic programs are offered for Grades 5-8 for girls’ volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ track, and girls’ softball.  Intramural volleyball is offered for boys in Grades 6-8. The Association also sponsors boys’ CYO basketball teams for high school students.  The KCSSAA coordinates all activities required to field sports teams, from organizing the teams and scheduling the events to running the concession stands.

KCSSAA sponsors the 8th Grade mother/daughter volleyball day, father/son basketball day, and Athletic Banquet.  This banquet recognizes everyone who has participated in athletics while at KCSS.  Plaques are presented to each student athlete listing the sports they participated in while at KCSS.

The Association funds virtually all maintenance and capital improvements in the gymnasiums at St. Mary’s and Holy Cross and gives financial assistance to the physical education program.  Over the past five years, nearly $250,000 has been spent on maintenance and capital improvements.  Because of the association’s work, gym maintenance and capital improvements are “off budget” for St. Mary’s and Holy Cross parishes and the sports programs are “off budget” for KCSS.  Unlike many catholic schools in the area, KCSS does not have a paid athletic director, all of these responsibilities are done by volunteers.

Funds are raised in a variety of ways, from concession stands and sponsoring tournaments to having a booth at Appleton’s Oktoberfest and selling Christmas trees.  The Association also sponsors the annual Holy Cross Mens' Basketball Tournament.

Meeting Times and Dates
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month August - May, 6:30 p.m. in the Holy Cross cafeteria. The December meeting is announced due to the holidays. Meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more about the Association or its activities.

Boy Scouts

Looking for an activity for you son other than or in addition to sports, Think Scouts! Boys can join scouts up until they are 18 years old.

Boys 6-11 years old join Cub Scouts and boys 11-18 years old can join a Boy Scout Troop. They can also join a Venturing Crew at age 14.

In our troop we try to offer a weekend camping trip once every month or two. There are also outings. This year we have Badger Sports Park, Snow Tubing in Kewaunee, Disc Golfing, and Bowling planned so far.

We also try to do a higher adventure trip every other summer. In 2009 we visited The Badlands & Mt. Rushmore. In 2007, we slept on the bottom of the Grand Canyon. We are in the planning stages for 2011.

Troop meeting are the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. At these we work on advancements and do the planning for upcoming events.

Attendance is not mandatory at anything we do. However, we like to see each scout enjoy as many opportunities as possible.

If you have any questions or would like more information please contact:
