KCSS Preschool / Prekindergarten Program

KCSS Preschool / Prekindergarten Program provides an exceptional experience for children ages 3-5.  We strive to help children develop a positive self-image by helping them develop emotionally, socially and spiritually.
Our program consists of work, play, story time, snack time (includes prayer) and:
  • Music (singing), finger plays
  • Pre-academic skills
  • Art Activities
  • Games and outdoor play
  • Large and fine motor skills

Preschool Sessions &
Prekindergarten Sessions

Weekly Sessions consist of 1 or 2 days a week for 3-4 year olds and 3 or 4 days a week for 4-5 year olds.

Age Requirements

Children must be 3 years old by September 1 for the preschool program and 4 years old by September 1 for the prekindergarten program.

Tuition Schedule

1 session per week   -   $510.00/school year
2 sessions per week -   $775.00/school year
3 sessions per week -   $990.00/school year
4 sessions per week - $1160.00/school year

Fundraising: Preschool/Prekindergarten families do not have a fundraising requirement as our K-8th grade families do ($150). You may, however, choose to participate in a fundraiser in which you would be eligible for a 50/50 split of your fundraising sale profits. For example, if you earn $100 in fundraising profits, $50 would be credited toward your tuition and the other $50 will go toward improving the quality of KCSS education in the areas of technology, fine arts and teacher salary increases.

Hot Lunch

The cost of hot lunch is $1.65 per day when ordered weekly and $2.05 when ordered occasionally. Adults may eat for $2.10 also. The menu will be online in the weekly news. The total cost for the week or month is listed on the menu.

If ordering weekly, please send money the Friday or last day proceeding the week of lunch. please put the money/check in an envelop with the family name, the names  of the students, date and grade. If you have students at Holy Cross Campus, please send a separate check/money with that child to the Holy Cross Campus.

Arrival and Departure

Class Times: Morning Session      8:10 - 10:55
                     Afternoon Session 12:10 -   2:55

It is not necessary to arrive more than 5 minutes before class time. To arrive earlier deprives the teacher of valuable preparation time. If you must arrive early please wait with your child quietly in the hallway until the classroom door is opened and we greet you.

Enter from Main Avenue (second driveway) and park in the back parking lot.
Preschool 3 & 4 year olds
enter the single door west side of the building.
Prekindergarten 4 & 5 year olds
enter the double doors south side of building.

Parents, grandparents and sitters are required to escort students to and from the classroom. Please notify the teacher if special arrangements are made.
If you are going to be late, please call the office at 920-766-5199.

field trips

Field trips are scheduled throughout the year. A permission slip will be sent home a week before each trip. Children must have a signed permission slip in order to take part in a field trip. Younger siblings are not allowed to come on field trips. This is a distraction for our preschoolers / prekindergartners and also to the parent who is supposed to be watching the preschoolers / prekindergartners. Thank you for understanding.

school supplies

A few items are required for each child: See teacher letter in start-up packet for the list of supplies.

  • School Bag - Please send a school bag with your child each day. It should have your child's name on it and be large enough to hold art projects.
  • $  6.00 Preschool activity fee
    $  6.00 Preschool milk fee
    $12.00 Total due at orientation
  • Tuition payment if possible.

  • $  6.00 Prekindergarten activity fee
    $12.00 Prekindergarten milk fee
    $18.00 Total due at orientation
  • Tuition payment if possible.

Please have the correct amount if you will be paying with cash. Make checks payable to KCSS. Thank you.

early dismissal

On Early Dismissal Days our afternoon class will join the morning class so they don't miss out on class time. This happens 6 or 7 times a year. The children actually enjoy these days with their new friends. The days are marked on your school calendar so you can plan ahead.

attendance

Call the school office by 7:50 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. if your child will be absent.

When you need to take your child out of school for an appointment, family matter or sudden illness,  you must stop in the school office and sign your child out before the child leave the school building. If you bring your child back the same day, you will need to come to the office and note the time of return on the sign-out form. You are not allowed to go directly to your child's classroom without reporting to the office first.

If you child is ill with diarrhea, throwing up, fever, please keep them home until they are free of these symptoms for 24 hours. Also chicken pox, rubella, strep, pink eye or other communicable childhood diseases, please keep him/her home at the first sign of breakout and notify school. The Health Code requires children to remain home a specified number of days, to protect other students and staff to prevent outbreaks.

immunizations

Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services' Student Immunization Law Requirements:

  • 4 DTP/DT
  • 3 Polio
  • 1 MMR
  • 3 Hepatitis B
  • Varicella (Chickenpox) Vaccine

If your child received the third dose of DTP/DT or Polio after their 4th birthday, further doses may be recommended but not required.

dress code

Please dress your preschooler/prekindergartner appropriately for a busy, active day. We recommend children wear tennis shoes not dress shoes. We wear smocks for painting projects, but we can't guarantee their clothing won't get dirty.
Children should be dressed according to the weather. That includes hats, boots, mittens, etc. in the winter. Please label! We usually send a note if we plan to go outside, but you never know when we'll get an unexpectedly beautiful winter day!

conferences/progress reports

Conferences will be held as needed. If you have any concerns about your child's progress, please feel free to contact us. We will do the same if we have a concern. Progress reports will be sent home in January and May.

birthday treats

Birthdays are very special in preschool and prekindergarten. You are welcome to send a healthy treat (please refer to the healthy snack list in your start up envelope) for your child's birthday. Please let us know a few days in advance if you plan to send a treat. Students who have summer birthdays please discuss the celebration time with us.

show and tell

We believe Show and Tell in preschool and prekindergarten is very special. We will provide information on orientation day. Please try to participate in this activity. It is very important to your child.

snack

A snack with milk is provided daily. The children will take turns bringing a healthy snack. A monthly calendar will be provided telling you when your child needs to bring a snack. A snack bucket will be sent home with your child when it is his or her turn to bring in a snack. The snack should be a healthy one. Please do not send cookies, cupcakes, candy, etc. Some ideas for healthy snacks include crackers, fruit, Teddy Grahams, yogurt, pudding cups, cheese, raisins, popcorn, or any other healthy ideas you may have. Your child's teacher will let you know how many snacks to send for your child's class.

emergencies/emergency closing

An emergency card for your child is to be filled out and kept in the office stating your wishes in case of an emergency. If you change doctors, or there is a change in your child's health, please inform the office. Also, if there is a change of employment, address, or phone number, please notify the office.

Preschool will not be in session whenever the Kaukauna Area School District closes due to inclement weather. If there is a delay in starting there will be no class in the a.m. However, p.m. classes will have regular class. Radio station WHBY-1150 AM and Channel 11 will have this information for you. Please do not call the school office.
